Hillary photo gallery

The fun of being in the national spotlight in the digital age is all the (not so) great photos people take of you that live on forever. Case in point, the Really Truly Hilliary Gallery, which has a great (and scary) collection of Hillary Clinton photos.

Seinfeld

In my opinion, Seinfeld is the best written comedy TV show ever. Combine the quirks of the characters with the intertwined hilarious sitations they get themselves into, and you have a very satisfying show. But Seinfeld is one of those shows that seems to divide people. I'd guess about half the people think it's a great classic show. The other half is split between people who just didn't get into it and people who can't stand it. Those who can't stand it usually say it's because they are annoyed by George or Jerry.

If you fall into any category but the last, I strongly suggest you seek out Seinfeld reruns or even rent the DVDs. The DVDs are preferred because they contain the original full-length episodes before they were trimmed to allow for more commercials in syndication. The DVD sets include a fun feature similar to Pop-up Video where interesting facts about the show are shown at the bottom of the screen.

Here is my list of the best Seinfeld episodes (in order of airdate):

The Pen (season 3, episode 3--those who don't like George might like this one since he's not in it)
The Library (season 3, episode 5)
The Boyfriend (season 3, episodes 18-19--includes the great parody of the film JFK)
The Limo (season 3, episode 20)
The Bubble Boy (season 4, episode 7)
The Cheever Letters (season 4, episode 8)
The Contest (season 4, episode 11--the most famous episode, and one of the best)
The Shoes (season 4, episode 16)
The Old Man (season 4, episode 18)
The Implant (season 4, episode 19)
The Puffy Shirt (season 5, episode 2)
The Sniffing Accountant (season 5, episode 4)
The Cigar Store Indian (season 5, episode 10)
The Stall (season 5, episode 12)
The Marine Biologist (season 5, episode 14)
The Couch (season 6, episode 5)
The Doorman (season 6, episode 18)
The Jimmy (season 6, episode 19)
The Fusilli Jerry (season 6, episode 21)
The Hot Tub (season 7, episode 5)
The Soup Nazi (season 7, episode 6)
The Sponge (season 7, episode 9)

Yakov Smirnoff

A little blast from the past: Yakov Smirnoff is a comedian who had a moderately popular run in the mid 1980's. He is Ukrainian-American and was known for jokes that made fun of the differences between culture and language in the US and the USSR. It is likely he was the inspiration for much of Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat.

Here's a great clip of Yakov Smirnoff from HBO's 9th Annual Young Comedians Show.

Hularious

Have you heard about Hulu? Hulu is a joint venture between NBC and News Corp. (parent of Fox) that recently came online. It is a free site (ad supported) that provides high quality streaming video of a whole bunch of TV shows and movies.

Here are some of the comedy TV shows I recommend for great laughs:

30 Rock (currently showing Season 2)
Barney Miller (a few from various seasons)
NewsRadio

In future posts I'll post more links to some of the great content on Hulu.

Worst day at work

If you're ever feeling like you're having the worst day at work, refer to this post about a guy who had a worse day than you thought possible.

Welcome!

Welcome to Best Laughs!

My sister commented to me recently that she'd like to laugh more and I promised to periodically send her some ideas for things she could read, watch, or listen to that would make her laugh. After further thought, I realized a lot of people could benefit from those things I'd send her, so I decided to turn it into a blog instead. So, kick back and enjoy a few laughs! Please send any suggestions to bkhouser@gmail.com.
